Welcome to the Boston Science Partnership (BSP) webpage for teachers. The BSP offers several different professional development, leadership, and curriculum enhancement opportunities to grades six through twelve science teachers in the Boston Public Schools. Some of our programs for teachers are open to teachers from outside the Boston Public Schools and pre-service secondary science teachers.
The BSP also offers programs for Boston Public Schools students, administrators, and STEM faculty at universities.
- Nine different graduate-level science courses designed specifically for science teachers offered at University of Massachusetts Boston and Northeastern University during the summer. A low-cost graduate credit option is offered.
- Advanced Placement (AP) one-day workshops and week-long summer institutes for current and future teachers of AP Biology, AP Chemistry, AP Physics B, and AP Environmental Science. Our AP offerings are co-sponsored by the College Board and are design to address the needs of AP programs in urban school settings.
- School-based, teacher-led professional development focused on science teaching. Teams of science teachers who all teach the same subject work together to identify strategies that help students learn science best.
- Vertical teaming workshops, where middle and high school teachers in the same science discipline work together to coordinate curriculum.
- Occasional one-day seminars and symposia on current topics in science education.
BSP programs are offered at no cost to grades six through twelve science
teachers in the Boston Public Schools, and stipends are available for
some activities.
